If you’ve had an accident late at night, we won’t be able to replace your glass immediately. In this case, we will board up your window with plywood boards to maintain security, and arrange for the glass to be fitted once it is available. We operate a 24-hour rapid-response Mitcham boarding-up service, to give you peace of mind when you need it most. We can also board-up large Mitcham commercial premises when the owner has vacated the building, or is in the process of a large-scale refurbishment, where the building needs to be protected against squatters and other intruders. All boarding-up jobs in Mitcham and the local area include a free quote on replacement glass if required.
Annealing
Annealing is a process employed when double glazed units are manufacturered. The glass panel is heated in such a way so that the entire pane has a uniform temperature. The temperature is then held steady for long enough to remove all internal stresses introduced by the formation of the glass while it was in it's molten state. The glass is then slowly cooled. This process has several benefits for the glass. If the stresses are not removed, this can cause fractures later on from slight impacts, or sizeable changes to temperature. The optical properties of the glass are also improved.
